Someone in my Pug group sent me this link.

If you have a dog, or are an animal lover, you should read this.

Chai's Story

And yes, I am in a pug group. Also a Boston Terrier group. Sadly though, the BT meetup today was cancelled due to the hurricane. Everything is just too wet.

Oh well.

Gotta go. Rocket88 concert tonight. If you're in Orlando, check it out at the Peacock Room at 10pm.

For those of you who have called and emailed, we are fine. We have survived Hurricane Fay. Gotta be the slowest moving hurricane ever. It has rained for days. I am very glad our condo is on the second floor, so flooding isn't really an issue for us. It is kinda gross outside though. Walking the dogs is an ordeal since the ground is all muddy and stuff. Yuck.

Hopefully, the weather will improve for this weekend. The Orlando Boston Terrier group is meeting on Saturday, and we were hoping to go. I will definately be taking pics if we make it, so look foward to those next week.

Thats all for now.

Hello Everyone!

So, I am in the middle of watching a great documentary, "What Would Jesus Buy?" about Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping. Wow, Reverend Billy is my new hero. His website describes the movie as
a docu-comedy follows our trials and triumphs across the country as we preach and sing to help holiday-abused Americans find a new Christmas without products.
Really makes you think. Christmas is so commercialized. Yes, I know this is a wierd blog to write in August, but hey, Reverend Billy says Mickey Mouse is the antichrist and Starbucks has a restraining order against him to prevent his preaching in their stores. Awesome! And hey, I've read the bible, I remember Jesus and the money changers. How do you think Jesus would feel today about credit cards, I somehow don't believe Jesus would be happy with Capital One. Alright, I'm done ranting.

Don't worry friends and family, you will still get christmas gifts. You just might get more meaningful, well thought out gifts. In fact, I am hoping to be completely done xmas shopping well before thanksgiving this year. I already know what I am going to get just about everyone on my side of the family, just got to figure out the in-laws.

Oh, and I did go shopping today. (Hippocrite, I know) But I bought 2 rattan & glass end tables. THey go perfectly with the bar, plus they were under 20bucks since I got them at the used store. SO, I don't feel bad about consumerism since they were used.

THats all for now. Working late tomorrow night on load out for Mamma Mia.

Bye!

Hello everyone!

Not much news. Have seen two interesting movies lately. First, hubby and I saw "Hellride" at citywalk last night. Dennis Hopper is awesome. The amount of topless women/trashy sex in the movie was way overkill, but the plot was interesting. And tonight we watched "Modify" from netflix. Yeah, I know I am what some people would call "heavily" tattooed, but some of the things in this movie seemed way too extreme for me. Sure, piercings, go fo it. I wouldn't do it, but live and let live. But some of these other modifications people make to their bodies just seem painful and just asking for attention. Oh well. Interesting documentary though.

Today we went shopping. Checked out the antique and used furniture stores. I scored a rattan wine rack for our tiki bar for only $5. We also saw an awesome 1960s era orange velvet sectional sofa that we would have bought if we had a truck. But alas, furniture does not fit in the Charger.

We have made some decisions/plans for the condo, now that we've decided leaving tour is a permanent decision.

1: The loft is going to be our tiki bar. We've already got all the bamboo & rattan furniture up there, we just need to figure out flooring and window treatments.

2: The kitchen is going to be all red 1950s retro.

3: I have a collection of over 50 different rubber ducks, so of course the guest bath is duck-themed. I am thinking blue & yellow. I saw some great rubber duck wallpaper border recently.

Not sure about the rest of the place. Hubby wants to do the living room all Dean Martin-esque bachelor pad. But Im thinking we may want to have at least one normal room in our home.

Oh, we also took the dogs to the dog park today. Nani went swimming, Caesar sniffed alot of butts.

Bye all!

I wish I had a house with a big yard.

On July 30 a puppy mill in Tampa was raided. Now the Florida Boston Terrier Rescue has thirteen more dogs in need of homes.

As for what else is going on, nothing much. Hubby is still in school for his CDL. I'm looking into going back to school, maybe for computers or something. I'm researching fields that have telecommuting/work-from-home jobs.

I am so glad to be home. Caesar spends every afternoon on the porch, basking in the sun. And Nani is losing weight since she spends so much time running up and down the stairs.

Hubby and I have been making plans to fix up the condo, so when xmas/bday season arrives, we will be asking for gift cards to Home Depot, IKEA, etc.

Anyway, gotta go.
