Hubby and I went to the Leesburg Bike Fest last weekend. Who knew our little town could hold so many people? Here are some pics.



The wall of Kegs was pretty impressive. Next year I'll have to take a pic at the beginning and end of the event for comparison.(this was about halfway through)

How very Leesburg to have motorcycles in front of the Feed Store (like its not bad enough to have a Feed Store in the middle of downtown)

The big building on the right side is the library where I work. This pic shows why we don't even bother to open during Bike Fest, no one could get through.

Mom's azaleas are blooming, which means spring is finally here!!

I know it has been about a month since I posted anything, but that's because alot has been happening. I got a new job, and we moved (because of the job). I am now working full-time in the children's department of a library. Since the position is a good 40 miles away, we had to move. I've only been in my new position for about a week and a half now, but everything is going good. Hubby and I found a 3bedroom house to rent within walking distance of the library.

Here are some pics of the new place:


this is the kitchen (and the dogs). Its small, but the house was built in the 1950s, so thats to be expected.


The tiki living room is still a work in progress. We have yet to put pictures up, and I am hoping to find a better rug at some point.


This is going to be our office/work room, but I have yet to move in my desk. You can see some of hubby's bikes though.


Thats all the pics for now. We still have a lot to do to get settled in and unpacked, but with working fulltime, it may take awhile to get to. We've also discovered that we really don't have enough stuff to fill up a 3bedroom place (our condo was a 2bd) so for now the guest room is completely empty. Guess we'll have to make a trip to IKEA before anyone comes to visit.

Hello! I am having a very productive Saturday (just finished my taxes). So I figured now its time to do an update.

Nate and I went to the Car museum in Mount Dora on Thursday. Its a really small museum, mainly just a private collection. Here are some pics:

The fact that I spend too much time on facebook and my brain is full of too much useless trivia has finally paid off.

I didn't post for over a month, and now I'm doing my third post in a week. Guess I'm catching up.

On Sunday, Nate and I, along with my mom and her friend Arthur, went to the Orlando Science Center. Besides just the regular exhibits, there were also exhibits on the Science of Toys and Frogs. And we saw a Dolphin movie on the CineDome. A fun time was had by all. Here are some pics.

Saturday Night, I went with mom to the Planetarium for STAR TALK LIVE. It was a funny show. Kind of Myth Busters meets Planetarium with a little Improv Comedy thrown in. Mom took her Alpha costume to promote her Dr Who club.





thats all for now. probably for awhile. We don't have any romantic plans for Valentine's Day, as I'm working Phantom loadout this weekend. We'll probably celebrate the following weekend. I am looking foward to seeing "The Lightening Thief" movie this weekend. I've read all the Percy Jackson books (yes, I'm a nerd).

If last weekend was my "Florida cracker" weekend (Civil war re-enactment, monster trucks, etc.), then this weekend's theme is GEEKY. This morning mom and I went downtown for SAK Theater's Yard Sale. To raise money to move into their new venue, the comedy theater was selling costumes, props, even some lighting equipment. Mom scored a bunch of wig heads and a Star Trek game for only $5.
After SAK we went over to the History Museum. There was a big outdoor party to celebrate the opening of the Sci-Fi costumes exhibit. I'm not going to the exhibit until next weekend (FREE for ARTSFEST on Sat), but we did check out all of the outdoor stuff.

Wow, I haven't posted in a month. Sorry folks.

Heres a brief summary of January.
Work has been fairly busy. The month started with the Lady Gaga concert, then Phantom came to town. Phantom is huge so it took a long time to get that show up and running. Hubby is busy coaching, he's teaching more classes now than he did in the fall. We have had some free time though. Saw KNOCKDOWN DRAGOUT (Hubby's favorite local band) put on a great show. We bought a Wii. Hubby is addicted to Lego Star Wars, while I am doing the EA Active 30day Challenge in an attempt to lose weight. We also saw a hockey game. UCF vs. USF. My hometown team versus my alma mater. No idea who to root for. But UCF won 10-1.
For hubby's christmas gift, I got tickets to MONSTER JAM. I had never been to Monster trucks before, it was alot of fun. We're already talking about going next year.
And now for some pics, on Sunday we went to Mount Dora for a Civil War re-enactment. It was really interesting. Neither of us had ever been to something like that. In the battle we saw, the South won. Here are some pics.

Well, 2009 is coming to a close. Every year I update my blog with a year-end post. Listing where we went, what tattoos I got, etc. THis year I did neither. No trips, no tour, no tattoos. Instead, this year found us doing more conventional things. We moved from our condo to a house (definately better, a yard, a garage, we're much happier). Nate lost a good job due to the economy, but being unemployed led him back to skating so it all worked it for the best. He loves coaching and things seem to be going really well for him. I left my side job so I could focus just on working with the union. Basically 2009 started off okay, then went severely downhill, but by the end of the year, things were drastically improved. 2010 is looking to be really good.

Anyway, here would be my highlights for the year:
Books: I would normally list a top five, but I read so much this year. Now that I'm not touring, I can go to the library again. SO, I'm reading alot more. This year I read alot of series. I read all the DUNE books (yes, all of them). I also read all of the Harry Potter books, the Percy Jackson books (looking foward to the movie in 2010), and the Twilight books. ALso read Neil Gaiman's the Graveyard Book. I love everything Neil Gaiman writes, this was no exception. I'm currently working on getting through the Dexter books and the Sookie Stackhouse books (that HBO's True Blood is based on). Which brings me to...

Television: My favorite series this year
1. Glee
2. True Blood
3. Dexter
4. Dollhouse (I am so sad this show got cancelled, I love everything Joss does)
5. Battlestar Galactica (again, I was sad to see this go, but it had a long run)
And while I didn't put it in the top five, the Torchwood "Children of Earth" miniseries was AMAZING. By far the best television of the year. It had me yelling at the tv, it brought me to tears. AMAZING.

Movies:
1.Up
2.Inglorious Basterds
3. Star Trek
4. Coraline (in 3-d! I love Neil Gaiman)
5. Food, Inc. (great documentary)
There were alot of other great movies this year. Many (like Avatar and Sherlock Holmes, I intend to see soon)

Music:
No top five for this. First, gotta say I am sick of Kings of Leon. I liked "Use Somebody" the first hundred times I heard it, no I automatically change the station when it comes on. The year seemed to be overrun with Taylor Swift, the Black Eyed Peas, and Lady Gaga. I love Gaga, but feel like so many other artists might have missed out on the limelight. oh well. Nate and I went to a couple concerts this year (Richard Cheese, Reverend Horton Heat) but we went to see more local bands than anything else. Rocket 88, Knockdown Dragout, The Nova Rays, Traverser, etc.

Guess thats about it for now. In 2010 we hope to support more local music (and the local derby team!) and are looking foward to some good movies like Iron Man 2, Percy Jackson, Alice In Wonderland, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and even Eclipse (I read the books, cheezy as it may be). Also looking foward to a trip to St Augustine (we were supposed to go today but cancelled due to rain).

Gotta go! Hubby and I have nch plans then are going to the movies.

Christmas Part 1:

Christmas pictures from Nana & Pop's house. The whole family was there, except for Candis who's in Asia (we miss you!!)


We reenacted the Nativity (a family tradition). Nate & I had to be Mary & Joseph. My cousins played the angel, wise men, shepards, and I think a camel(? or donkey?)


Nate tried the wonky bike (where it goes the opposite direction you want to go). While one of my cousins rode Nate's custom.



Everyone played with the Marshmellow guns. Some were snipers/shooters, while others were targets (they tried to catch the marshmellows in their mouths).




The kids sang "The 12 Days of Christmas" complete with hand gestures to go with each verse. It was quite entertaining (particularly "7 Geese A-laying" and "8 Maids a-milking")
