It's friday night. You know what that means...BAD MOVIE NIGHT.

tonight we have one film on the schedule.
FREAKED

The tagline is "Butt ugly. But funny."

It has Mr T in it as a bearded lady. Randy Quaid as the villian. Brooke Shields, Morgan Fairchild and Larry 'Bud' Melman are in it. ANd Keanu Reeves even plays the dog faced boy.

Crazy.

Anyway. Tomorrow is Caesar's Birthday. Well, not his real birthday, but we adopted him from the Humane SOciety one year ago today. So, for his special day, we will be taking him to the dog park (the big one with the Lake that is his favorite) and to the Gourmet Doggie Bakery for a dog birthday cake. SHould be fun.

My mom is also gonna come over and help us paint the living room.

Then tomorrow night Nate and I go to House of Blues for the Rocket 88 & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show.

Should be fun.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that in the new Hairspray movie (yes, they are making a movie based on the play based on a movie) John Travolta is signed on to play Edna Turnblad? Can you picture John Travolta in a house dress? Eeeewwwww. Queen Latifah is signed on to play Motormouth Maybelle, that may actually be pretty good.

Anyway, Tiffany came to visit from NY this weekend. We did some shopping, worked on wedding plans, went to dinner last night at Buca di Beppo with my mom.

My doogs absolutely adore Tiffany. They keep going into our guest room looking for her, even though she flew back to NY this morning.

Not much else going on. Florida Film Festival is this week. We are gonna go see the Animated Shorts on friday.

Anyway, it's Sunday so go read the new secrets on PostSecret

Friday, March 24, 2006

So, Nate has an RC competition tomorrow. And Tiffany flies in from NY in the morning for a quick visit. So, we are staying in tonight.

Watching a double feature (we love bad movies. the lower the budget, the funnier the film)

This woman is my new hero. And if anyone who reads this article can explain to me what a "simple rape" is, please met me know.

Giago: Oglala Sioux president on state abortion law
Tuesday, March 21, 2006

"When Governor Mike Rounds signed HB 1215 into law it effectively banned all abortions in the state with the exception that it did allow saving the mother’s life. There were, however, no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. His actions, and the comments of State Senators like Bill Napoli of Rapid City, SD, set of a maelstrom of protests within the state.

Napoli suggested that if it was a case of “simple rape,” there should be no thoughts of ending a pregnancy. Letters by the hundreds appeared in local newspapers, mostly written by women, challenging Napoli’s description of rape as “simple.” He has yet to explain satisfactorily what he meant by “simple rape.”

The President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Cecilia Fire Thunder, was incensed. A former nurse and healthcare giver she was very angry that a state body made up mostly of white males, would make such a stupid law against women.

“To me, it is now a question of sovereignty,” she said to me last week. “I will personally establish a Planned Parenthood clinic on my own land which is within the boundaries of the Pine Ridge Reservation where the State of South Dakota has absolutely no jurisdiction.”

Strong words from a very strong lady. I hope Ms. Fire Thunder challenges Gov. Rounds and the state legislators on this law that is an affront to all independent women."

I stepped in dog poo.

I was barefoot at the time.

In my bedroom.

It was gross.

Oh, and there was a rock in the poo.

Turns out my pug Nani, likes to eat rocks. We've seen her chew them outside a few times, and we always make her spit them out, but I guess she swallowed one. And then she took pooped under the black curtains in my bedroom. So, when I went to close the blinds, I stepped in the poo.

It was gross.

And I saw V for Vendetta tonight. While they did change wuite a bit from the book, it was still a great movie.
Go see it. Now.

The Florida Film Festival is coming up.

Lots to do.

I love James Spader's character on Boston Legal. He gives great speeches on the importance of the first amendment. I really wish people cared about the bill of rights as much as this fictional character does.

oh well.

I'm tired. We went out last night with some friends. I stayed up late thinking I would sleep in today, then I got called into work at 7am to cover for someone who was sick. I'm tired.

oh well.

I'm gonna sleep now. Got to work all week. Friday we're going to a party. and hopefully I will find time this weekend to see "V for Vendetta".

have a good week everyone.

Amina got approved on the copyright for her tattoo. If you wanna learn more, check out the article about it at needled.com I doubted that the government would recognize a tattoo as real art, but suprise! they actually did.

Of course, not all tattoos are art. Boy, do I sound like a snob or what? Guess I'm just feeling disgusted by all the trendy unoriginal flash I saw the other night at the concert.

ANyway.
I got to go. THink I might go see Ultraviolet tonight.

Just another example of the sheer stupidity and paranoi that is overrunning this country.

From The Columbus Dispatch

Oops...this bike wasn’t a pipe bomb

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University police need to brush up on their obscure folk-punk bands.

An OU officer on patrol saw a bike in a busy area of campus early yesterday that sported a sticker reading, This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb.

Buildings were shut down. The Columbus Division of Fire's bomb squad drove down to investigate. Authorities used a high-powered water spray on the bike, and then pried it apart with a hydraulic device.

Hours later, police learned that the sticker referred to the Pensacola, Fla., band This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb and had nothing to do with the bike's contents.

The ordeal not only cost graduate student Patrick K. Hanlin his bike, but also earned him a misdemeanor charge of inducing panic.

The 28-year-old declined to comment yesterday.

The officer found the bike about 5:30 a.m. outside a campus snack shop. Hanlin later identified himself as the owner of the bike -- what was left of it, anyway -- and explained what the sticker meant.

Despite his cooperation, OU spokesman Jack Jeffery said yesterday afternoon that the student was charged criminally.

At a news conference shortly after the all-clear was announced, Dean of Students Terry Hogan said the sticker was benign. The concern was that it was on a bike.

So if it had been stuck on a telephone pole, none of this would have happened?

"I think that's probably right," Hogan said.

Fire officials cordoned off a large section of campus and closed down four buildings while they investigated. It took them three hours to determine the bike was not set to explode.

Hogan said the bike was in a fairly high-traffic area of campus, but the buildings affected had not yet opened for business when it was found.

"I think the response was an appropriate one," Hogan said.

OU President Roderick McDavis agreed.

"We don't take this as a joke," he said.

Sophomore Mike Fisher, who lives in a dorm less than 50 yards from the site of the incident, said students weren't told what was going on yesterday morning. But he doesn't blame Hanlin for what happened.

"Honestly, I just think it's the cops being ignorant and taking things so literally," Fisher said.

Hogan, in a news release, encouraged other OU students and fans of the band not to display the band's name in a way that could lead to safety concerns.

The band's name prompted police in Austin, Texas, to detain a woman who had the same sticker on her bike at a peace rally in 2001. She was released after officers verified that the band exists.

And now for something completely different...

I am watching the movie "Dead Alive". Got it from Netflix. It is an early film directed and written by Peter Jackson (of Lord of the Rings and King Kong fame). Wowo, is this movie horrible!

But in that so bad it's good because it's really really funny kind of way.
I love America. I love having the freedom to speak my mind, marry whomever I want, choose to work in a male dominated industry, etc.

However, our rights are slowly slipping away.

Most recently, South Dakota has banned abortions. To read more about it go to this link .

Absolutely ridiculous. I would never get an abortion, but I don't feel I (or anyone else) has the right to tell another woman what she can or cannot do with her own body. And what about victims of rape or incest? What if the mothers life is in danger due to the pregnancy? What if your pregnant with a kid without a spine or something? What if your pregnant with too many babies (damn fertility drugs)? There are just too many possibilities to ban abortion completely.

I thought this country was about freedom.

Big brother is everywhere.

Oh, and the Dropkick Murphys show last night was awesome. But we didn't get to see the Horrorpops, since their bus broke down.

Day off tomorrow. Lots to do.

Wednesday, March 01, 2006

So, Nate decided he wanted to do something different, so he had me dye his hair.
It's black & blue now.
Best part is, the name of the blue dye is "Blue haired freak".
Of course, Nate will now have to wear a hat to work. (Damn corporations and their stupid rules)

Looks pretty good though. Redyed the black in y hair too, still need to touch up the red though. It's faded to a really ugly orange.

I'll fix it soon.

Anyway, have to work the next few days. Then sunday is the Dropkick Murphys/Horrorpops concert.

:)
