Merry Christmas Everyone.

More pics! When Hubby's Mom was here we went to Leu Gardens. CHeck out the pics. One of the reasons I love living in Florida, gardens are beautiful even in December.

It's beginning to look alot like christmas.

OK, not really. We're in Orlando, so it still looks green, hot, and ocasionally rainy. But, we did put up our decorations.

Since we don't have a fireplace, we hung the "stockings are hung on the bannister with care". And yes, those are DOI posters in the background.

One of the great things about cathedral ceilings? We have room for a 9ft tree.

That is all for now. My mother-in-law arrives this evening, so I need to clean the house. gtg.

I love this.

I would have to win the lottery before I ever got knuckle tattoos (job killer). But if I ever did, BOOKWORM would definately be considered.

My name is Sandy and I'm an addict.

I'm warning everyone now. In the next week or so (whenever we run out of CokaCola at the condo), I will be giving up caffeine. THis will be very dificult.

I have a huge addiction to caffeine. I drink a 2liter of coke a day, every day, for more than ten years.

But, I am giving it up. Hopefully, no caffeine will mean no more cysts. Thats the theory anyway. I've been doing alot of research, and sources say that giving up caffeine drastically reduces ovarian cysts. I'm also changing my diet to eat healthier, and I will be excercising more. I already walk to and from work everyday, but I'm going to start yoga as well.

WHy all these changes? I'm sick of all the side effects from the hormones I have to take for my cysts. Seems ridiculous to take pain killers to treat the migraines that I get from the pills I take to treat my cysts. Too many drugs. I'm going natural.

If anyone has any advice or tips on any of this, please let me know. As someone who lives on soda and cheeseburgers, this healthy diet is going to be a challenge.

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes. We didn't really do anything for my birthday, but we did have a lovely dinner at home (thanks to Tiffany for sending me Omaha steaks!) and Mom got me a coldstone cake. Yummy.

I have the day off work today, so I am working on xmas cards.

I am feeling the itch for a new tattoo. Hopefully soon. I have a new favorite website, Bookworms with Ink It is a website dedicated to literary tattoos. Totally inspired me to get a Vonnegut or Kerouac tattoo. (I already have a Douglas Adams tattoo)

The cramping in my fingers is going away, which means its time for more xmas cards!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with my family. More than 100 people were there. Yes, I have one of those HUGE southern families, with third cousins and even fourth cousins. The food was great and it was nice to see everyone, after spending so many holidays on tour in the past. It was Nate's first Thanksgiving with my family. A bit overwhelming I would imagine. I mean, I don't even know everyone there, so how could he? Hubby was quite entertained by the lip-synch though. Its an unusual tradition, but always alot of fun. My family does a lipsynch show every year. Its always hilarious. Here are some pics.

My cousins did the "Blues Brothers" (and yes, that is the same saxophone I played in middle school band)

My Grandparents were absolutely adorable!

Mom did a folksy number (and it was her 50th birthday!!!)

No, I did not lipsynch. Nate and I just cheered everyone else on.

and yes, tonight is the last night of my twenties. Goodbye 29, hello 30.

CNN has declared Barack Obama to be the next president of the United States.

Since I have been old enough to vote, no one I have ever voted for in a Presidential election has won. I turned 18 a couple weeks to late to vote for Clinton's last term. And of course, I never voted for Bush. So, I am thrilled that finally my candidate of choice has won.

and hey at least Mom won't move to France now ;)

(I am disspointed in my fellow Floridians for passing amendment 2. I would hope for better from my state).
Prayer for the National Elections
BY Sister Joan Chittister, OSB

Give us, O God,
leaders whose hearts are large enough
to match the breadth of our own souls
and give us souls strong enough
to follow leaders of vision and wisdom.
In seeking a leader, let us seek
more than development for ourselves–
though development we hope for–
more than security for our own land–
though security we need–
more than satisfaction for our wants–
though many things we desire.

Give us the hearts to choose the leader
who will work with other leaders
to bring safety
to the whole world.

Give us leaders
who lead this nation to virtue
without seeking to impose our kind of virtue
on the virtue of others.

Give us a government
that provides for the advancement
of this country
without taking resources from others
to achieve it.

Give us insight enough ourselves
to choose as leaders those who can tell
strength from power,
growth from greed,
leadership from dominance,
and real greatness from the trappings of grandiosity.

We trust you, Great God,
to open our hearts to learn from those
to whom you speak in different tongues
and to respect the life and words
of those to whom you entrusted
the good of other parts of this globe.

We beg you, Great God,
give us the vision as a people
to know where global leadership truly lies,
to pursue it diligently,
to require it to protect human rights
for everyone everywhere.

We ask these things, Great God,
with minds open to your word
and hearts that trust in your eternal care.

Amen.

VOTE!!!!

Just a friendly reminder, election day is tomorrow.

And save your "I VOTED" sticker. You can use it tomorrow to get a Free Doughnut at Krispy Kreme, a free tall coffee at Starbucks, and a free scoop of ice cream at Ben & Jerry's.

Lots of local places are giving away freebies too.

So
go vote! And please have patience with the volunteers at the voting
sites. My mother works the election, and it is hard work, a very long
day (many long days for states like Florida with early voting). So be
patient, smile, even say thanks to the people who are willing to give
up their time to help the democratic process!

Happy Halloween! Here's some party pics. Thanks to Rachel & Josh for throwing the bash.

Friday, October 31, 2008

I voted today. I did have to wait in line for 2 hours to do it, which did suck. But I must say it was so wonderful to see people so excited to vote. The last presidential election there was so few people at the polls. THis time, even with early voting here in Florida, it was so busy.

So c'mon everyone, get off your asses and go vote!

*unless you're voting Mccain, then feel free to stay home and skip it ;P And remember, if you live in Florida, vote NO on 2 and if you live in California, vote NO on 8.

Hello everyone!

Not much going on here. Been busy working. Also, I have started walking to and from work. So, hopefully by the time I turn 30 (6weeks!) I will be in better shape.

Hubby is loving his new job. He had to fly home to New Hampshire this weekend for the funeral and he said he was actually looknig foward to going back top work. Says alot considering when we were on tour we usually dreaded having to go to work.

I am busy working on the condo. Trying to figure out what we need still. Still trying to figure out what color to paint the second bedroom and bathroom. I'm leaning toward either a slate blue or a pale yellow. Not sure yet.

Guess thats all for now. Hopefully we will make it to Rachel's Halloween Party but not sure about my work schedule yet. No costumes either. We may just be lame and wear our costumes from last year.

Still selling vintage stuff. CHeck it out! I'll be listing new stuff every couple days. I have way to much stuff in my closet.

***This post is in memory of Ken, my father-in-law.***

Death of the Old Sea King
Frances Ellen Watkins

'Twas a fearful night -- the tempest raved
With loud and wrathful pride,
The storm-king harnessed his lightning steeds,
And rode on the raging tide.

The sea-king lay on his bed of death,
Pale mourners around him bent;
They knew the wild and fitful life
Of their chief was almost spent.

His ear was growing dull in death
When the angry storm he heard,
The sluggish blood in the old man's veins
With sudden vigor stirred.

"I hear them call," cried the dying man,
His eyes grew full of light;
"Now bring me here my warrior robes,
My sword and armor bright.

"In the tempest's lull I heard a voice,
I knew 'twas Odin's call.
The Valkyrs are gathering round my bed
To lead me unto his hall.

"Bear me unto my noblest ship,
Light up a funeral pyre;
I'll walk to the palace of the braves
Through a path of flame and fire."

Oh! wild and bright was the stormy light
That flashed from the old man's eye,
As they bore him from the couch of death
To his battle-ship to die,

And lit with many a mournful torch
The sea-king's dying bed,
And like a banner fair and bright
The flames around him spread.

But they heard no cry of anguish
Break through that fiery wall,
With rigid brow and silent lips
He was seeking Odin's hall.

Through a path of fearful splendor,
While strong men held their breath,
The brave old man went boldly forth
And calmly talked with death.

Not much going on here. We took the dogs to the dog park, they had a blast, like always.

Since we are still unpacking, Nani loves playing in the newspapers.

Caesar loves the porch. He takes a nap there almost everyday.

Hubby and I watched the debate. Wow, I think if anything ever happened and Palin became prez, I would move to Canada.

We went to Sea World today. Took lots of pics.

Check out the next few posts for more pics of more stuff. I had misplaced my camera cable in our move, so I posted lots of pics today since I found it.
